Each unit of study contains five sight words (Dolch sight word list) that the students will memorize by sight, one set of phonics words that students will learn to sound out, and one story that uses the sight words and the phonics words. Students will continue to work on each unit until they are able to read each sight word correctly, sound out each word, and read through the passage independently. For some students, this may only take a few days. For other students, it may take 3—4 weeks.
